We ARE our experiences.....following is mine.
The corporate side of my
professional past: My college
career focused around Accounting and Japanese because I was good at numbers, had
a knack for languages and was told Accounting was a “safe job that could pay
the bills.” After graduating from Santa Clara University with a BS in Accounting and a Minor in Japanese, I
went to Japan to explore another culture and fine tune my Japanese
skills. This was one of the most challenging and exciting times of my life!...a
time where I truly realized just how much people really are alike, regardless
of the language they speak or the color of their skin. We all have the same
inherent desires to be happy and fulfilled.
After my two year stint in Japan, I returned home to California and joined KPMG Peat Marwick where I worked as an
Auditor. I quickly realized this was not my calling and after paying my 2 years
of dues I received my CPA and began to look
for something new. I joined Sony Corporation of America as an Internal Auditor, but soon learned this was
pretty much the same job I had just left just under the guise of a “hip
entertainment company”. I met with a recruiter in hopes of finding a new
career, but the only job they could help me find was another accounting job
which I didn’t want…that was of course, unless I wanted to be a recruiter.
Heck..It sounded fun and I certainly wasn’t about to be an auditor again, so I
took a leap of faith and started my new career in sales…and boy, did I love
it!!! A job where I could interact with people and help them find new positions
closer to home, with better pay, with more exciting companies. After working
for a large recruiting firm where I specialized in placing accounting and
finance professionals for over 3 years, I decided to join a boutique executive
recruiting firm where I was able to gain experience placing people in
management positions in the areas of finance, accounting, operations, sales,
marketing and human resources.
The entrepreneurial side of my
professional past: I decided to
take another leap of faith and start a recruiting firm specializing in the
placement of accounting and finance professionals with a few of my previous
co-workers. It was quite an endeavor and I was able to learn the A-Z’s of
starting and running a company. …And I’m happy to report that the company I
co-founded, Search Finance Group, is still ranked as the 4th Largest Search
Firm in Los Angeles County by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
Even though I was at the peak of my career
and had achieved what I thought I wanted, I still wasn’t fulfilled. Something
was missing. I kept encountering people like I used to be…Accountants who
really didn’t want another accounting job, Financial Analysts who were tired of
the daily grind…but, unfortunately, as a recruiter, I couldn’t really help them
pursue their passions because the only jobs I could place them in were more
accounting and finance jobs.
So, after taking several personal growth
seminars, including the completion of Tony Robbin’s - Mastery University, I set
out on a mission to find my passion…a job that I would feel truly fulfilled in…a
job where I felt I was really making a difference and helping people become
more fulfilled in their lives. I went back to college and got my Masters of
Arts in Spiritual Psychology at the University of Santa Monica. After graduating, I started taking executive coaching classes at The Coaches Training Institute and began my coaching career where I now help people lead more fulfilling and balanced lives. I also started and run an online beauty boutique called www.beautyintuition.com that inspires inner and outer beauty by enabling acts of self-love...because when you feel good, you look good!
I’ve finally found my calling and I hope I
can help you find yours, too!
